Obituary for
Robert J. "Bob" Christenson
Robert "Bob" Christenson age 93, of Stevens Point, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 4, 2015 while under the care of Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau.
Services for Bob will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday May 16, 2015 at the Church of the Intercession at 1417 Church St. in Stevens Point. Rev. Jane Johnson will officiate. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM that Saturday until the time of services. A luncheon will follow. A private burial will be in Bryant at a later date.
Bob was born September 19, 1921 in Zion, IL, the son of Louis and Ida (Hollingshead) Christenson. He served his country in the Army Air Corp in the South Pacific during WWII. At one point he was a morse code instructor and later in life enjoyed creating morse code puzzles and letters for his sons and grandsons. Bob married Nan Spencer in 1947 in Antigo. He worked for Johnson Outboard for 36 years before retirement.
Bob had a servant's heart. He was an active participant in his church, always willing to take on new projects and challenges. After retirement he was very active in volunteer services including Meals on Wheels, Interfaith Caregivers, Special Olympics, and the American Red Cross. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, general tinkering, traveling with his wife, and sharing his love of music.
Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years Nan, and their three children: Robert (Ellen) Christenson; Judy (Roy) Pierce; and Penny (Tim) Zahl. 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, one brother Les Christenson and daughter-in-law Luanne Christenson. He was preceded in death by a daughter Susan and a son Don.
