Richard "DoDo" Borski
Richard J. “Dodo” Borski, formerly of Stevens Point, passed away June 5, 2015 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI while under the care of Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday June 10, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. Rev. Greg Michaud will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives will gather to share memories from Noon Wednesday until the time of services at the church. Shuda Funeral Services are assisting the family.
Richard was born July 17, 1937 in Stevens Point, the son of August and Frances (Konopacky) Borski. He entered the United States Army on January 4, 1955 in Milwaukee. He served his country as a Pvt-1 and earned the following decorations: Sharpshooter (Rifle M-1), Sharshooter (Carbine), Gunner 1st class (TK Gun), Marksman (Pistol), and Expert (SMG). He was honorably discharged as a SP3, Co C, 33rd Armor 1st Division on December 20, 1957 from Fort Polk, LA. He was then a member of the US Army Reserve until January 1963.
Richard was employed by Al-Chroma and then the Town of Hull where he retired in 2000. Richard was a proud member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Greater Polonia Post #185 and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his sister: Lorraine Zinda and two brothers: Jerome Sr and James (Anita) Borski. His sister-in-law Jean Borksi, all of Stevens Point. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Edward and Robert, 2 sisters: Carol Laars and Ramona Miller.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richard’s name to the Veterans Recreation Fund: WI Veterans Home, King, WI 54946.
Richard’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the WI Veterans Home at King and Theda Clark Hospice for their kindness and care.
Richard was a generous, kind, and quiet man and will be greatly missed.
