Harles D. Buckmaster
Harles “Harley” Buckmaster age 88 of Stevens Point was called to his Heavenly home on Thursday August 6, 2015 to join his golf friends for many tee times to come. He was the most joyous, happy, positive, loving, caring, hilarious, giving and always put everyone’s difference ‘s aside and always saw ONLY the GOOD in people. A true gift to many.
He was born April 18, 1927 in Clinton, Wi. to Harvey and Mabel Buckmaster. He moved to the Stevens Point area in his early childhood. He joined the Navy at 17 and that journey took him overseas to China.
If anyone knew Harley they knew his love of golf. He got his first hole-in-one at the age of 74 and 2 more after that. He was able to share one with his nephew Rick Gruba and family Sue and Travis. A fond memory for them. His golf buddy Greg, visited him often at the care center. Every time he visited he told Harley, “ We need you for our foursome” and Harley would just smile.
Harley career was a owner-operator truck driver He spent 45 years traveling highways across the country and his golf clubs were always with him. Harley and his son Tom drove together as a team for many years. They created many memories sharing that experience together.
Throughout the last 20 years he enjoyed Friday nights singing karaoke. His friend “Geno” of Shooters got him started on his singing career and they even made a CD together. He will be sadly missed by his closest friend of 20 years or more Michael P. Friday. Harley got him started singing karaoke. Harley was fond and appreciative of his friendship with Mike.
Harley met his Rosie over 17 years ago and he always referred to her as “My Rosie” even up to his last breath. They enjoyed life to the fullest together. He also cherished and loved his family in which he enjoyed spending lots of time with. He was very proud of all them.
Harley is survived by his 2 sons, Steve (Joan) and Tom (Chris); 2 grandchildren, Jasen (Jodi); Jessica (Bert); and one great granddaughter Jori; one step-grandson Julian. His special love and friend Rose Krueger and her son Jeremy. Harley is also survived by one sister Yvonne Gruba; one brother David; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Gerry.
There will be a celebration of Harley's life by family and close friends at Shooter's Supper Club Hwy 54 Plover, Wi. Wednesday August 12, 2015 from 4 to 6 p.m..
