Obituary for Catheryn V. Tuttle

Catheryn Viola Casadont Tuttle Was born on February 23, 1928, in Nickerson, Minnesota, to Lawrence and Myrtle Casadont. Since Lawrence was a first-generation immigrant from Italy and Myrtle’s parents were immigrants from Sweden, life was interesting for Cathy as a member of the large Casadont household. Older sister Marie, Betty, Esther and Grace each had a special relationship with Cathy that would last throughout their lives. Older brother “Bud” (Lawrence) was a beloved tease, and younger brother Ronald, a protector. As she matured, Cathy’s talents and gifting’s were evident to see and became hallmarks throughout her life. She was a bright and keen student, becoming Salutatorian for her graduation High School class in 1945. Her vocal talent as a contralto were much in demand, and for a time she even studied opera, but she was happiest singing at church. As a child, Cathy had already made the most important decision of her life, and that was to accept and follow Jesus Christ. She became a diligent student of the Bible, and not only lived out its message, but became an exceptional Bible teacher as well. On the domestic front, Cathy was quite proficient and could cook, bake, sew and knit-actually, there wasn’t much that she couldn’t do and she did it well! With all these talents and with her good looks, she caught the eye of a handsome sailor, Keith Tuttle, and the two were married on October 3, 1953. Soon Cathy and Keith had a growing family with son, John, born in 1954, daughter, Gale, in 1955, son, Philip in 1958, and son, Thomas, in 1961. Choosing to raise their family in Cloquest, Minnesota, Cathy and Keith settled down to the business of life: providing for and bringing up their children. Spiritual life was always important, and Cathy made sure that she read the Bible and prayed with her children every day. The Tuttles were active in their church, and Cathy took on many roles there; Sunday school teacher, choir director, church secretary and elder’s wife. With school-aged children, Cathy sought work outside the home and became known for her ability to “sort things out” and to “clean up messes”, and worked as a school secretary and then in a pharmacy. Later, her bookkeeping and organizational skills came in handy as she worked in a welding shop and then in hospital administration. Cathy and Keith retired to Friend, Nebraska, Keith’s boyhood home, in 1984, where they lived until 2004, when they moved to Beloit, Wisconsin in order to be closer to family. In March 2015, they followed son, Philip, to Plover, Wisconsin. Cathy entered eternity on October 20, 2015. During the last days of her illness, Cathy and Keith marked their 62nd Wedding Anniversary; a testimony of commitment and dedication to their Lord, each other and to their family.
