Obituary for
Bernard K. "Bernie" Engebretson
Bernard (Bernie) K. Engebretson, 85, Stevens Point, died November 15, 2015 at St. Michael’s Hospital.
He was born September 26, 1930, in Wausau, to the late Bert and Edith (Perry) Engebretson. He attended schools in Wausau and later lived in Appleton, Wis. Rapids and Plover. Bernie retired from University of Wisconsin St. Point in 1993, after working 22 years in the power plant.
He was married on May 13, 1950, to Delores Rayski. She died in 1986. On February 20, 1988, he married Betty (Getzloff) Sawyer in Stevens Point. She died on November 10, 2015, at Portage County Health Care Center.
He and Betty enjoyed 27 years together enjoying camping, square dancing, winters in Apache Junction and spending time with family. He was very happy to be chosen for the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. since in served in the Marines during the Korean War.
Bernie is survived two brothers, Glen (Jeanette) Engebretson, Rothschild; Walter (Margo) Engebretson, Weston; 3 step-brothers, Eldred (Buelah) Getzloff, Gary Getzloff and Lowell (Debbie) Getzloff, one step-sister, Karen (Charles) Ulrich, 5 step-children: Deb (John) Ammel, Almond; Ben (Sheri) Sawyer, Bancroft; Terry (Sheila) Sawyer, Bancroft; Scott (Kathy) Sawyer, Bancroft; Dawn (James) Robinson, Town of Rome; 6 neices, 7 nephews, 25 grand nieces/nephews, 10 Great grand nieces/nephews; and 10 step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. November 21 , 2015, at Shuda Funeral Home in Plover. Friends and relatives will gather to share memories at 10:00 AM until the time of services at the Plover Funeral Home on Saturday . Burial will be in the Plainfield Cemetery.
Besides Delores and Betty, he was preceded in death by infant brother and sister, Donald and Eunice, and a brother, Lester from California.
