Lee Ligenza
Lee J. Ligenza, 71, died Monday March 21, 2016 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston unexpectedly.
Funeral services will be held at Shuda Funeral Chapel on Hwy 66 Monday March 28, 2016. Visitation from 3 to 6 PM with a Moose ritual at 6 PM followed by a brief service ending with full military honors. Burial will be at a later date at King Veteran’s cemetery.
Lee was born June 12,1944 in Chicago, IL. He was the son of the late Bruno J. Ligenza and Martha (Peskie) Ligenza-Stoltz. They moved from Chicago to Stevens Point, where Lee attended school. Lee graduated high School in 1962 from P.J. Jacobs.
Lee Joined the United States Marine Corps in 1962. While in the corps Lee was assigned to Vietnam, where he was wounded. From Vietnam he was sent to Military Hospitals in Okinawa and Hawaii. From there he was then transferred to California, then the Great Lakes Naval Station where he ran the Brig Laundry. Then he was transferred to Camp Pendelton to serve as an MP where he had his own section of men who did town patrol in Oceanside. After discharge, he returned to Stevens Point where he managed Bill’s Pizza and later partnered with the late Bill Padoll for several years. The rest of his time was spent managing other restaurants, including The Restaurant at Sentry Headquarters and the Happy Joe’s.
He was married to Kathleen (Katie) Kime on July 20th 1966 at Camp Pendelton California. After their discharges they moved to Stevens Point, where they have lived for the last 50 years.
Lee was a member of the Loyal order of Moose since 1982, where he loved to help at several functions. He served in many different positions while in the Moose. He served as Governor and was District President. He was the state bowling chairman for 5 years. He obtained the highest degree for the Moose, the Pilgrim Degree of Merit.
He loved his time up in Minocqua, for the last 40 years, and the wonderful friends he made there. He also enjoyed hunting, and spending time with his grandsons and his special little great granddaughter Kierra Rose Ligenza. She has become the sunshine in his life.
Survivors, besides his wife, also include his only son John D. Ligenza (fiancé Crystal) and daughter Linda L. Ligenza Firkus (Jack). Three grandchildren, Justin (Brittnie), Tanner Ligenza, Jacob Ligenza, Great Granddaughter Kierra Rose Ligenza, all from Stevens Point.
Siblings include sisters, Mary Lou (Ligenza) Jaworski (Fred), Nancy (Stoltz) Zywicki (Larry), and brothers Robert Stoltz (Rosalia),Maurice Stoltz (Rose). Lee was preceded in death by father Bruno J. Ligenza, mother Martha (Peskie) Ligenza-Stoltz, his stepfather Edward Stoltz, his brother Jerry Stoltz and sister-in-law Henrietta (Hank) Stoltz.
