Donald W. Miskowski


Donald W. Miskowski, age 83 of 3275 Howard Ave. in Stevens Point passed away Thursday March 11, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. He had been in ill health since Saturday. Funeral services for Don will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday March 17, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Al Burkhardt will officiate. Burial will be at the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 PM Tuesday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel and again Wednesday from 9:30 until time of service at the church. A general rosary will be prayed on Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM at the funeral chapel.

Don was born January 17, 1927 in Stevens Point the son of Roman and Mamie (Lesavage) Miskowski. He attended local schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1945. He entered the United States Navy for the duration or the war in 1944 and missed his High School Graduation to serve his country. Upon his honorable discharge in August of 1946 Don returned to the area and began working at Joerns as a truck driver. He married Margaret "Dolly" Leo on July 2, 1949 at St Stanislaus Catholic Church. The couple settled in Stevens Point and in 1960 Don began his career at ANR Pipeline where he worked as a Truck Driver until his retirement in 1983. Don was a renowned fast pitch softball pitcher in the area, and enjoyed golfing, bowling, and carpentry. He also was an avid fan of the Packers, Brewers, N.A.S.C.A.R, San Jose Sharks, and a die hard Brett Favre fan. Don enjoyed spending time with his family and was especially proud of the accomplishments of his Grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife "Dolly", and their eight children: Ellen Miskowski, Stevens Point; Mike (Kim) Miskowski, Plover; Pat “Rocky” (JoAnn) Miskowski, Mosinee; Bob (Julie) Miskoski, Stevens Point; Bill (Dede) Miskoski,Friendship; Rick (Lori) Miskoski, Stevens Point; Dave (Patty) Miskowski, Stevens Point; Scott (Carla) Miskowski, Stevens Point. 23 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. One brother James (Irene) Miskowski, Stevens Point and one sister Elaine Neises, Schofield. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in laws, and two brother in laws.
